We are looking for a director for the the bioanalysis R&D team (20 FTE) and one of the bioanalysis operations teams (40 FTE).
The bioanalysis R&D team focusses on developing new assays for and with Pharma and Biotech clients, as well as hospital diagnostics. This matrix team has close collaborations with other parts of Sanquin, notably Sanquin Research. The team has experts in the field of complement biology, auto-immune disease, haemostasis, PK and immunogenicity of biologics, immune monitoring, cellular assays and flow cytometry, multi-plexing, lab-automation and measurements in small volume/capillary blood.
The bioanalysis operations team consists of executing technical staff who together have a wide range of capabilities; from NGS to ELISA, from Luminex to flow cytometry, from radio-immune assays to cellular assays.
The principal responsibilities of this position are to provide strategic and managerial oversight of all bioanalytical operations including overseeing bioanalytical method development, validation and sample analysis. You will manage the bioanalytical operations and R&D team through a team of functional managers (lab heads and team leads) as well as direct line management to QA supporting staff and scientists at all levels. You will work with senior management on the planning and development of operational policies, objectives and initiatives.Who we're looking forFor this dynamic position we are looking for an independently working person who is familiar with leading bioanalysis teams. You have experience with implementing new structures and a form of process optimisation (i.e. LEAN) would be a plus. Affinity with lab-based and clinical studies related QA would be most welcome.
You have an M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field with 15 years of broad bioanalysis experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology/CRO preclinical and clinical assay development/bioanalytical operations. You have working knowledge of the FDA and EMA guidelines and industry standards. Working knowledge of various immunoassay platforms including ELISA, MSD-ECL and Luminex is highly advantageous, as is experience with cellular assays or flow analysis. You have excellent communication skills in English and you are willing to learn Dutch.
