Profile
The energy sector and the (chemical) industry are in a transition towards the use of new feedstock, the use of renewable energy, increasing process and energy efficiency, circularity, synthetic fuels and carbon capture and utilisation. The department Sustainable Process & Energy Systems works on all these transition topics. Our core technical expertise is Gas Treatment and Conversion, Separation technologies, thermo-catalytic conversion, Electrochemistry, Bio-based Building Block synthesis, Energy Conversion & Storage and Plastic recycling. We work for and with (renewable) energy and chemistry companies and in a network of international knowledge partners. The department is very international oriented, in work as well as in staff in the department.

Some typical projects/programs we are working on:
  • Carbon capture and carbon (re)use technology development and piloting;
  • Hydrogen as a carbon-free fuel and feedstock;
  • Electrification of the industry;
  • Biomass valorisation: biogas as a fuel and feedstock, biomass conversion to aromatics.
With an increasing work stock, we are looking for a junior lab technician who wants to work on the topics of
Carbon Capture and Utilisation and Synthetic Fuels. You will be part of the lab team that builds set-ups and performs measurements in our lab as well as at the premises of our clients.

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate would have the following background:
  • B.Sc. (HBO) or Master in e.g., Process Technology or Chemical Engineering;
  • At least 1 year of work experience in a process laboratory environment or similar;
  • Experience with pressurised flow systems, vacuum systems and twin ferrules couplings;
  • You understand the challenges of developing technology that needs to be scaled up;
  • Experience with Labview;
  • Affinity with Carbon Capture technologies and Synthetic fuels;
  • Fluent in English.


We are looking for someone who enjoys developing innovative solutions to technically challenging problems, by combining the right mix of intellectual curiosity and a pragmatic approach. You like to work in projects that are challenging and can have strict deadlines. You have good interpersonal skills and proactive communication.

Within these areas they create optimised & efficient processes, develop high-performing prototypes, and transfer their knowledge so their partners and clients will gain that competitive edge. This can take the form of sub-systems, but also of complete, integrated set-ups. In addition, they can arrange benchmarking and test compliance with appropriate standards and regulations.
