Profile

As one of the two Product Development Specialists, your main goal is to develop new products for innovation and renovation projects in order to develop the global product portfolio. The products are the driving force behind commercial success, profitable growth, and impact.

You make sure they develop chocolate products that surprises and delight and lead the technical development process from briefing to kitchen. You make sure that the product is launched on time, on brief and is meeting product & packaging principles and quality standards.
You deliver products for innovation (NPD) & renovation (improving our current products), across various chocolate segments with different production techniques and manufacturing partners.
Responsibilities:
  • You translate a brief from the Innovation & Renovation team into product & pack attributes, and you make sure to always add some magic to be able to disrupt in the category;
  • You bring development from concept brief to execution, from formulation in our kitchen, up until a successful first production. Delivery of product development on cost target to make the business case work – incl. Ideation/development of alternative routes if needed;
  • You work closely with our Operations & Quality team and networks of co-mans and suppliers, to ensure new-products can be manufactured, meeting foods safety and regulations;
  • Delivering the right test & validation methods;
  • You follow a product development process so that projects are run smoothly & actively suggest for improvements to be made;
  • You conduct sensory evaluations for new and existing products to ensure quality, consistency and get director for further development;
  • You set up, prepare, execute and evaluate production trials, together with our teams & co-mans;
  • You identify and actively manage risk in projects in close collaboration with project managers. You do this within the company and together with our external partners (co-mans, suppliers).

Who we're looking for

You bring in deep understanding of food science, chemistry, technology and/or engineering in order to run development projects. A background in food development is a must for this role, preferably in chocolate industry. Basic experience in packaging development is also plus!
Preferably we are looking for a candidate with at least 3 years of experience in product development within the food industry.

Department

In the global product department work 16 people. The department is divided into 4 teams (innovation & renovation, project management, product development, and future projects). This role sits in the product development team, which is a team of 4 people (one product development manager, two product development specialists, and one packaging development specialist).
