Let’s meet Paula
Paula López del Hierro studied Chemistry in Madrid and always dreamed of living and working abroad. During a visit to Amsterdam, she immediately felt at home and decided that the Netherlands was where she wanted to build her future. Since moving in 2021, she has combined her scientific background with a passion for collaboration, continuous learning and working in an international environment.
Her first position was at Johnson & Johnson and after gaining experience in different roles, she returned to Johnson & Johnson through a CLS secondment, where she continues to develop both professionally and personally.
Paula: “I work as a Sr Associate Scientist and Testing Coordinator within Analytical Development. My role combines scientific understanding, project coordination and stakeholder management. I work closely with different teams and sites to coordinate testing activities, align priorities, track timelines and support documentation, helping projects move forward efficiently.
What I enjoy most is connecting people, processes and ideas to bring structure to complex situations. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn from colleagues with different areas of expertise. Knowing that our collective work ultimately contributes to improving patients’ lives is what motivates me every day.”
Collaboration with CLS Services
Paula: “My experience with CLS Services has been very positive from the beginning. We first connected several years ago through an interview that, although it did not lead to an immediate opportunity, left a lasting positive impression. When I later came across a new opening, I did not hesitate to reach out again.
Throughout every interaction, CLS has been approachable, responsive and genuinely invested in understanding my career aspirations. What I appreciate most is their personal approach; they take the time to understand not only my professional experience, but also what motivates me and where I would like to grow.
It is reassuring to have a contractor who is supportive, transparent and always willing to provide guidance. Knowing that they are actively looking for opportunities that align with my skills and ambitions has made the experience both rewarding and enjoyable.”
Learning and development
Are there any ambitions you have now? Paula: “At the moment, I am very happy in my current role because it combines many aspects that I enjoy: coordination, problem solving, communication and continuous learning.
Looking ahead, I would like to further develop my project management and communication skills. I particularly enjoy connecting with people, facilitating discussions and presenting information in a clear and engaging way. At the same time, I want to continue expanding my scientific and operational knowledge within the pharmaceutical industry.
For now, I am in an environment where I can learn every day, and that is exactly where I want to be.”
